I'm doing some experimenting with the Optimization:-Maximize and Minimize functions, and I'm having difficulties getting them to find the actual extrema within a set of bounds.  I have found that the extrema they identify depend on the bounds, even when the same extrema lie within those bounds. I've also tried the initialpoint option to start the solution near the extrema and I've found three things: sometimes it works to get the correct solution, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes I get a message saying the initial point was ignored by the solver.

The problems I'm using are all taken from the Maple help or tutorials.

I haven't included a bunch of test cases but I've attached the Maple Flow file.  I have a suspicion it has to do with the second derivatives of the functions near the boundaries, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone point me to more information, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

I know this is a "silly" question but just recently my Tool Ribbon disapears or "retracts" into thin air and I have to first click on it to get it to "deploy" downward and then when I click on it to "Insert, View, Edit..." it then retracts and is gone once I do the click.  I am forced to do 2 clicks when before I had only to do one click.  This is not efficient.  I like the Ribbon concept for Maple 2025 but this is an irritating annoyance.  If some one knowlegeable could please take a few seconds to reply to this, I would greatly appreciate it.  BTW, this just started.  In an other machine I have where Maple 2025 is located, it doesn't do this.   I am sure it is a simple setting somewhere.  I just can't find that setting.  Thank you in advance

I was searching release notes for some old Maple versions. I found so many broken links on Maple web pages. The first page is https://www.maplesoft.com/products/maple/history/

Scrolling down, and starting from Maple 2016 (about half way down the page), all links to the "product press release" are broken. This is the link to the right of each product.  All these links on the right, from 2016 to the end of the page are broken,

Clicking on any of these, sends the user to new broken web page, called https://www.maplesoft.com/company/publications/  titled "Maplesoft media coverage".

This page does not even work. Clicking on "Jump to year" does not open. Clicking in "first page" does nothing. Tried Edge browser on windows 10, also the page does nothing.

Then I clicked on Maplesoft Media Releases link at top, and now it works.

But jumping to any year before  2016, all the links that show on those pages are broken. Try and see,

For example. jumping to 2015, and clicking on release called "

November 25, 2015"

Gives

This applies to each press release for each year from 2015 to 1997.

Hundreds of links are broken.

There is software which checks broken links, and it is free for windows, called Xenu's Link Sleuth. May be someone at Maplesoft can use it to find all broken links at Maplesoft web site and fix them?

It is not acceptable in this day and age to have a Major software company with a web site full of broken links.

This is a report of a Maple_2015's bug, apparently fixed in more recent versions, but which may have persisted for a few versions beyond 2015.
I don't think it's necessary to fill out an RCS form.

All started with an error in my code which was balanced by a maple 2015 bug. So I didn't see any error until I sent my code to @C_R  who uses a newer Maple version.
More precisely, in my Maple 2015 code I defined a NxN matrix B, a vector A of length N, that I mistakenly defined as a vector column, and finally computed the quantity R = A . B . A+.
Of course Maple should have fire an error.

The bug is that Maple 2015 doesn't fire an error if A is a float vector and B a float matrix.

When clicking on a pink error message I get this

Can someone explain what is going on? Quite unusual for me all this.

I do not have a server to white list. What can I do about it?

Is that Sucuri thing safe?

Is there a way to disable / turn of ai in Maple Learn. The question is relevant because it is not allowed for our students to use AI during their exams.

Regards and happy holiday

using regular expression in Maple is little annoying, because one has to escape \ in the regx string itself, which makes it more complicated compared to other languages. For example

StringTools:-RegMatch("^\[.*\]$","[A]")

gives false. But

StringTools:-RegMatch("^\\[.*\\]$","[A]")

gives true.

Other languages have special function to generate the regx itself, which does not require escaping the \ when writing the regx Which makes it easier to see the regx (escaping is done under the cover). like this

Since all places and web sites that show examples of regx., do not have to escape \ before using, it will be good if Maple adds such special new function to StringTools to generate regx like the above so users do not have to remember to escape \.

It is hard enough to use regx without having to also remember to escape things.

I could not find such a function in Maple. Does one exist?

Why one is no longer able to upload worksheet here showing a problem? I found an internal error in int() but can't upload worksheet.

When I click on the green arrow and select my worksheet, I get this message

What is going on? I am on windows 10 and I tried 2 different browsers. So the problem is on the Mapleprimes site.

Can anyone else try to upload a worksheet to test to see if they get same problem?

I frequently receive this message after installing the most recent Maple update:

Can anyone help me with this? Thank you so much for your valuable support.

Hello,

I have upgraded to maple 2025, but the ui fonts are too small and very thin. I went to Files -> Options -> Interface -> Default Zoom, thet sat it up to 150%. It only changed the document area not the UI options. This solution used to work with Maple 2024. I am on ubuntu 22.04.

I've seen many here recommend using the screen reader for Maple 2025. So this is first time I tried it.

Clicked on this second icon in my windows 10 start menu

Maple came up using the old UI, which is good:

But here comes the big problem. The file->Open menu does not work. It automatically opened in location which is not what I want. I wanted to navigate to different place on my PC. But anything I click on just generates loud beep and does nothing. Can't type anything to change location either.

So can't open any file. Not only that, It is stuck and can't even close the windows. Can't get out. Everything is stuck.

It could be because I have 2 monitors. I had this open on the second monitor on the right. Everything on the second monitor now do not respond like Maple. Luckily, on the left monitor I was able to start task manager and kill Maple in order to get out of this hang.

Basically screen reader does not work at all for me. If I can't open a file.

It could be due to using 2 monitors. I do not know.

Does file open work for others?

Here is small movie.

Do not know if this is new or not.

I have found about 12 Maple crashes so far in just 2 days running a test in Maple 2025.2

But this one I am not sure if it is new or not as never seen it before.

Could someone please just run this in Maple 2025.1 and see if you get same crash? So I know if it is new or not. Only have Maple 2025.2 on this new PC.

Calling solve causes Maple server to crash. Save your work before just in case.
