I've made exam questions for students that they have to answer by doing some calculations in Maple.

I would like to let them copy the commands they used to a Maple TA text field.

However, the standard worksheet in our computer lab uses 2-D math. Copying this 2-D math to Maple TA works fine with "paste as plain text", but copying 1-D math also works with ctrl-v in Maple TA, which is more convenient for students under stress.

I'm acquainted with using View - show/hide contents - and unchecking input to hide the input in a worksheet.  My problem is that I would like to do this only some of the time.  I've tried selecting just the text where I want to hide the input but the menu action seems to apply to the whole worksheet.  This is in Maple 14.  Is there someway to hide the input some of the time but leave it visible the rest of the time?

I need to solve the below nonlinear equation for n numerically, assuming taut and taum are between zero and one, not inclusive of zero and one. 

I first used "solve(EQN,n, useassumptions)assuming taum>0, taum<1, taut>0, taut<1;", but no solution was generated. I thus removed useassumptions, and used "solve(EQN,n);", but I received the message "Warning, solutions may have been lost" from Maple. How to solve this problem?

Hi I teach in a high school. Basically I have found that if I ask a question like: Factorize fully (x4-y4), and use a MathContainer for both the question and the answer (to be filled by students), I can't find a way to see whether the students have fully factorized the expression. Suppose (x4-y4) is in MathContainer1 and MathContainer2 is to be filled in by students. Using the code:

How may I program the following with Maple?

 

(1) Define the function:

H(p) := p * c1 + p^2 * c2 + p^3 * c3  + ......

 

(2) Now construct the following expression:

 

(1-p) [ v''' + 1 ]  = H(p) [ v''' - 25 * v' + 1]

Here, v is some funciton of x.

 

(3) Now assume: v = u0 + u1 * p + u2 * p^2 + ...

and substitute this into the expression defined at the point (2).

How can I model a ground pattern, like was done in the demos of the planetary rover (http://www.maplesoft.com/products/maplesim/demo/OrangWowMoment.aspx)?

I see in the block model of the planetary rover that there is a component called "ground pattern" and it is not connected to any of the other components of the model, and this component is also not part of any default libraries of Maplesim.

pdsolve runs and returns the module..

Which algorithm does maple follow for singular value decomposition by command 'SingularValues' in LinearAlgebra Package ?  Is it is QRSVD or divide and conquer or any other   .As far as  I know, MATLAB uses QRSVD.

When a try approximating this problem by five decimal places, it doesn't do it. How do you fix this?
