I would like to show a single plot comparing the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree Taylor polynomials of y=sqrt(2x+1) centered at x=4, with each polynomial having a different color. By default, Maple produces the plot with the function in red and all polynomials in blue. I can easily do this using the plot command, but I'd like to know if there is an option in the TaylorApproximation command that would achieve the same end result.

Thanks!

Hello.

I would like to do 2D pointplot, where each x,y come from GPS reading, and each point have a colour dependent on z, where z is same measurement taken in each position ...

I am plotting a curve generated from odeplot and I would like to fill the area under this curve.  I have tried filled=true and filled=[color="Blue",transparency=0.5] in the call to odeplot but it only plots the curve with no underfill.  Please advise on how to shade the area under a curve generated from odeplot.  Thanks very much.

I am displaying in 2D, multiple arrows with amplitudes oscillating sinusoidally.  I wish each arrow to have its own color. I have included the commands I am using. Please provide the command that will provide the colors. Thanks.

Ax:=t->cos(5*t);Ay:=t->0;Bx:=t->-cos(5*t)/2;By:=3*cos(5*t)/2;

animate(arrow,[[[0.0],[0.0]],[[Ax(t),Ay(t)],[Bx(t),By(t)]]],t=0..Pi,view=[-2..2,-2..2],color=[blue,green])

I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to this: when you plot multiple curves on the same axis with Maple and specify the colors=["blue","red",.....] etc, the ordering is not preserved, Maple seems to just match whichever color to whichever function it pleases. This is v.annoying, surely there must be a way to get around this?

easier background plot color

December 22 2011 by acer 6921 Maple

I wanted to set the background color of a plot to black (without axes shown) and figured I could add this to the PLOT structure: POLYGONS([[10,0],[0,0],[0,10],[10,10]],COLOUR(RGB, 0., 0., 0.))

And that worked fine. But I feel that it ought to be easier.

point plot and colors

December 22 2011 by acer 6921 Maple

The code below, which is a PLOT structure, seems to be one of the more efficient forms of specifying individual colors for each point in a 2D point plot.

My central question is: what plotting command will construct this?

PLOT(CURVES(Matrix([seq([i,i],i=0..4)],datatype=float[8])),
     STYLE(POINT), AXESLABELS("", ""), VIEW(0 .. 10, 0 .. 10),
     COLOUR(HSV,
            Array(1..15,[0.0,1,1,0.2,1,1,0.4,1,1,0.6,1,1,0.3,1,1],
                  datatype=float[8])
            )
     );

I know that I can call `plot` and pass the m-by-2 Matrix of point data, and specify style=point. But how can I pass in such a nice, efficient float[8] Array to specify the points' colors? I know that the float[8] Array is leaner than a long sequence of HFloats. But even in the simpler case of just two points: how can one pass the `color` option just once to specify the colors to be used for each of the points?

Oh, in case anyone's interested, another old-fashioned (but terser) was to get such a float[8], C_order Array is with the `hfarray` command.

Bode plot colors?

Hi there,

I am using the bodeplot function to plot three transfer functions, and for this I need to specify each one with a different color set. I can use the color="blue", but that assigns all the transfer functions to blue. How can I differiante between them?

How can we get a color scheme that is stationary while object is rotated?

I'd like to shade an object in 3d but as I rotate it have the color scheme remain adjusted to a secondary set of axis.  Almost like a plot within a plot, rotate the inner plot with a color scheme relative to the outer plot axes.  An observer based color scheme I suppose is what I'm asking.

I suppose it would be similar to the way lighting schemes work, light from a specific...

Is there a way to color the output text from command line, say using printf?

printf("I want this output to be green for example");

Any alternate ways to produce colored text from the command line?

The ability to color a 3D plot using a color function is geared more for functions of x and y only.

But quite often, the surface or pointwise 3D position of the plot is itself being specified as a height z which is a function of x and y. For the plot3d comand, that's pretty much the way it works (whether using an expression or a procedure).

So, of course, the very same rule that...

Is there any way to modify the shading colors used in shading=zhue?

Maybe similar to what was done in the post for Color of the plot of convex hull of points or perhaps there is simpler way?

I'm trying to use the convexhull function to plot convex hull of points. Explanation of the functions is here

http://www.maplesoft.com/support/help/Maple/view.aspx?path=simplex/convexhull

The problem is that the convex hull of the plot is always shown in yellow background. Is there a way to change the color?

Thanks.

Another feature added to Maple 15 partially in response to the MaplePrimes forums is the new/improved ?HTTP package.  It provides one-step commands for fetching data from the web: much simpler than using the ?Sockets package directly. In most cases, the command ?HTTP,Get is what you would use:

 (s, page, h) := HTTP:-Get("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crayola_crayon_colors"):

The above fetches the HTML source of a page from Wikipedia and stores it as a string 'page'. The other two outputs are 's', and integer HTTP status code and 'h' a table of the headers returned in the HTTP response from the server.  Compare this to the amount of code needed to fetch data in my Baby Names application for Maple 12, for example.

Hello all

May I please ask a question about colors? I have multiple plot structures, created using

plot1:=odeplot(...)

plot2:=odeplot(...)

I do not wish to specify a color for each.

When I display them all together

Display(plot1,plot2,..)

they (understandably, I guess) all show up with the same color (all having been created separately).

Is there any way to get the Display (or other) command to (realize it's drawing...
