I am trying to integrate the following expression in Maple. It produces the correct result, but not in the format that I want.

BesselProblem := BesselJ(0, BesselJZeros(0, 1)*r)*BesselJ(2, BesselJZeros(0, 1)*r)*r^3;

int(BesselProblem, r = 0 .. 1);

returns the expression

Hi! I'm running Maple 15.01 64Bit on my Xubuntu 12.04.

I also got Maple 15 installed on my Windows7 64Bit computer to verify the results.

So let's see what is going wrong:

What does work?

int(x^n, x);

Gives me on both machines the correct result:

Hi, I have an equation that i need to integrate. Howver, due to the absolute equations I have in it, an analytical integration is not possible. How could i use a numerical method instead?

In matlab, instead of using "int", i use "quad". Is there such a thing in maple?

Please advice. Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to calculate a few integrations:

E1:=map(int(N1),eta=eta0..eta2)

E2:=map(int(N2),eat=eat0..eta2)

E3:=map(int(N3),eta=eta0..eta2)

N1, N2, and N3 are 3x3 matrix are are functions of eta0, eta2. eta0 and eta2 are derived after several integration as well.

If i do not want to change the name "eta0" and "eta2", can i write something to indicate (eta0 for E1 is 8.3, eta0 for E2 is 4.5, eta0 for E3 is 7.9). I hope...

Hi all,

I have a function which Maple is happy to integrate from -100 μm to +100 μm,  but won't do between -60 μm and 100 μm.  Screenshot here:

The graph of the function reveals no obvious reason why it shouldn't be able to integrate from +infinity to -infinity (which I'd like to be able to do) and everything in between:

Solve this integral

Find the value of the integral I=∫√(sinx)dx

myf:=(mu,sigma)->int(exp(-(x-mu)^2/2/sigma^2)/sigma/sqrt(2*Pi)/(1+exp(-x)),x=-infinity..infinity);

plot3d('myf(mu,sigma)',mu=-5..5,sigma=0.5..10);

This plot was never created. I think it's taking too long to evaluate it when it's divegent.

Hi all,

For my research purpose, I need to integrate this function. I understand that there maybe values for which this integration is divegent. But is there a way to look into it? Say creat...

I want to write a code to generate Legendre Polynomials using the Gram-Schmidt Process. I have no experience with programing. Here is how the process should work:

Given "(f) = {f[0]=1, f[1]=x , f[2]=x^(2) , f[3]=x^(3) , ... , f[n]=x^(n)} "

Find the Legendre Polynomials: "{P[0] , P[1] , P[2] , P[3] , ... , P[n]}"

First,  P[0]=f[0]=1

then, the rest are defined recursively by

P[1]=f[1]-(()/())*P[0] = x

One of my friends would like to buy a book about solving multiple integrals and/or ordinary differential equations with Maple (some newer version, let's say 13 and newer).

I know about this site: http://www.maplesoft.com/books/, but can anyone recommend some book(s) which is (are) worth buying?

Integration problem

February 25 2012 by horstinator 5 Maple

Hi

Sorry for this noobish question but I have problems solving this 2-dimensional Integral:

int(x*y(x^2-y^2)/(3*(x^2+y^2)^3), [x = 0 .. 2, y = 0 .. 1])

Maple 14 does not solve it. Mathematica did solve it but I was hoping for Maples Integration tutor (great thing) to help me solve this on my own.

Thanks

Integration anomaly

January 19 2012 by Stewart Herring 15 Maple

Problems concerning integration have been discussed on  maple primes  before with piecewise continuous antiderivatives explaining  difficulties. Here an example is given using Maple 15 where a continuous antiderivative is returned but definite integration fails to give the correct answer.

Hi,

Does any body know how one could calculate such an integration:

Int(expression, 1/x)

Thank You!

I am trying to evaluate integral (-1/rho)*del (p)/del (x) dy within the limits y=0 to y=delta (x). For that I first evaluated (-1/rho)*del (p)/del (x) and stored it in res2. Then I tried to integrate it w.r.t dy within limits 0 to delta (x). I wrote the following Maple lines for the purpose:

Te := proc (x, y) options operator, arrow; T[inf]+(T[w]-T[inf])*(1-y/delta[t](x))^2/(1+2*A*H/delta[t](x)) end proc

PDE := diff(P(x, y), y)-rho*g*beta*(Te(x, y)-T[inf]) = 0

restart

u := proc (x, y) options operator, arrow; u[x](x)*(y/delta(x)-2*y^2/delta(x)^2+y^3/delta(x)^3+B*H*(1-3*y^2/delta(x)^2+2*y^3/delta(x)^3)/delta(x))/(3*B*H/delta(x)+2) end proc

int(u(x, y)^2, y = 0 .. delta(x))

I tried the following partial integration in MAPLE. But Maple says:

Error, (in u[x]) too many levels of recursion.
Analytically it is possible to evaluate the integral in the above lomits. Where lies the problem?
