I could also convert a to a string with

b:=map2(map,convert,a,string)

Now if b contains a string with a space, your commands for parsing fail.  Also map2(map,parse,b) fails

If for example we changed a to all strings and added a new spaced word in one

a:=[["he","45","123","76","1.0","4"],["know how","4","9","34","3.2","5"]]

we get the error Error, incorrect syntax in parse: missing operator or `;` (9)

How do I get around that?

How do you feel about posting partial code?  I have some projects only partially finished but you, as myself, keep finding new ones to work on and never really finish the old ones.  Unfotunately the mapleprimes community misses out (unknowingly of course) but some projects are quite interesting.  I believe most people don't like to post uncompleted work and that's understandable.  And thus the mapleprimes community will wait for a completed project.  Other input is also welcome.

Hi Acer, any progress made since?

Hi Acer, any progress made since?

I just thought it would be interesting to see how one would go about programming something like that into Maple.

There does seem to be a delay in the posting of answers however.

haha, sounds like I have a 300 doesn't it.  It is a 56.6 robotics.  As technology moves forward it's inevitable that useful devices become almost unuseable.  The ultimate in recycling is being able to use technology for as long as possible.  You are right however, even though you didn't mention it, that dial up is a thing of the past.  I am considering the switch as high speed has only recently just become an available choice for me.

Another couple of great poll questions that could be utilized on this site if there were one is, what O.S. do people use?  and high speed (probably a great percentage) or dial up?  and the type of computer.

On a Mac the mapleprimes pages are showed with sidebar but lots of blue space on the side as well.  Is the content supposed to extend the full width of the monitor?  Or is there supposed to be a 1-1/2 inch blue border on the left and right sides?

I had a chance the other day to check and see if this issue was fixed in Maple 14 and it has.

I agree!

The part about simulink is disturbing.  If someone were wanting to buy simulink, why not just buy Matlab instead and also get simulink as a bonus.  Then Matlab has you and Maple has lost a part of you because, of course, you just bought Matlab you're going to want to try it out.  A certain percentage of the buyers are going to completely switch over.

Not exactly the best competitive model if you have to buy every add-on.  From a business perspective it makes sense (charge money for everything have better revenues) but from a competetive standpoint if Maple were to offer it's toolboxes, global optimization and simulink etc ... packages as a free bonus, that would make Maple a much more attractive choice.

What I still can't truly understand is why the old mapleprimes had to be shut down.  Given all the harships of the old mapleprimes, the magnificent layout of the old site, it was fun to navigate as Axel has just mentioned.

I am sure, that if the old mapleprimes were to be revived that many users would flock/swarm to it like it was some sort of information paradise.  The reason this new primes gets so much usage is because there's no other place to go.  Given the choice, and I don't mean to be harsh but I'm sure you would see usage on the new site plummit.

For reasons which I think this new primes site had to be built was the old programmers left and the new ones couldn't manage the programming code so they had to change the style (correct me if I'm wrong).  The new primes is built on the idea of what the builder had in mind.  I'm sure it was a collective agreement to get rid of the many levels deep of threads, I know that was disliked, however it actually worked very nicely.

Many of us thirst for the old primes to come back, so just for old times sake here's one of the many pages I saved using HTTrack.

Some of the things I liked about it.  The User login was right there on that page.  You didn't have to navigate somewhere else to log in.  The poll questions that existed on the left hand side, and on the bottom left, collaborative books with Great Maple Primes links under one heading.   The date posts were created so you knew how long ago that question was started.  And it was quick!

If I can find the main organizing pages .. I hope I didn't delete them .. darn it if I did, I know I have them somewhere in my many files, just have to locate them but unfortunately they may have been purged.  If I find them I can show some of the new users how the site used to be like.  It's somewhat unfortunate to loose the structure we had but I'll most certainly post the pages if I can find them.

Is anyone still working/playing around with this project?  This thread has been fairly quiet, and seeing the world cup nearing an end, I almost wonder if the interest has faded away.

A study came out recently that referees tend to call fouls more often if the play is moving to the right than the left.  I wonder if a similar study is done on the color of the jerseys, dark colored jerseys winning more often than light colored jerseys?

Also the last answer in that post is actually supposed to be the first answer.  I guess one of the casualties during transfer.

Also I suppose any type of image processing will consume a lot.
