Hello,

I am having problems printing Maple Flow documents. I have set up both a header and a footer. In the Print Preview mode, everything is fine. When I try to print to a PDF file, the header loses its format and the footer does not print at all. Printing to a printer looks the same. What settings must be selected so that the printout can be passed on as a well-formatted document?

Many thanks in advance.

I have been unable to re-size and imported image into a Maple Flow 2022.2 document. I just used my old Maple Flow 2021 and I had no problem. When I use Maple Flow 2022.2 I cannot re-size an imported image. I was able to re-size an imported image in Maple Flow 2022.1. Is it just me or has anybody else experienced the same problem? I also imported the image into Maple 2022.2 and had no problem re-sizing the image.

We've just released Maple Flow 2022.2. The update enhances the user experience in many areas, including user interaction, performance, and the interface.

Performance is a signficant focus.

  • Maple Flow prioritizes the evaluation of the math you see on screen, giving you faster calculation updates for the part of the worksheet you’re working on, with more math being evaluated as you scroll down.
  • We also have more users developing larger documents. Adding white space to large documents, and interacting with sections is now more response and snappier.

In response to many user requests for faster interaction, a new optional evaluation method lets you simply hit equals to evaluate math and display results.

We've also refreshed the in-product Application Gallery with a new look and many new applications (this includes a library of section properties).

You can also optionally restrict printing to the left-most column of pages, allowing you to have off-screen supporting calculations not displayed in the final report.

You'll find a complete list of enhhacements here, and you can download the update here.

When I try to change the number format (decimal places) of a sequence in Maple Flow using the right hand slide out context panel all numbers in the sequence are replaced by only the first number in the sequence.  I'm not sure if it has been fixed in 2022.1

Before the adjustment ...

Selecting fixed prompts the result to stop after the first number in the series.

Can anyone else confirm this issue?

calculating specific weight I get an answer in kg/m2s2. The context panel does not allow me to change the units to N/m3. Any suggestions how to change the units to N/m3. If I use Maple I get the right units. The problem is with Maple Flow.

Does Maple Flow support the Maple Physics[Vectors] package? If so, how are vectors entered?

This forum complains when I paste an image of my Maple Flow work, asking that I copy and paste the content, instead of the image. How do I accomplish content copy and paste with Maple Flow?

Not all of the units I work with are available directly in Maple Flow (torque, especially). Can I create new units in some manner? How does Maple Flow handle conversions? The following is an attempt to coerce desired units that does not work:

I have a function that refuses to allow "fsolve" to compute a root for.  I'm trying to use a brute force Newton (or secant) algorithm to find the root.  This is successful

But I'm new enough in Maple Flow (and Maple) that I can't build an automatic recursion method.  All ideas welcome.

in MapleFlow 2022 ...
1i means 1*sqrt(-1) while 2i means 2*sqrt(-1) ... etc ... right?

In electronics "j" is used for  the sqrt(-1) ... since "i" is used for electric current.

That said I just discovered that MapleFlow will also interperit "j" as sqrt(-1) when used in this context...
1j = 1*sqrt(-1)
2j= 2*sqrt(-1)
Right?

But how can I have MapleFlow express answers using j as sqrt(-1) instead of using i?

I want 2 * 2j= 4j
not 2*2j = 4i

Also, on another topic...
On this forum... what is the difference between a "Post" and a "Question"... as when I ask a question ...
 consider it "posting" a question.

Thanks for any help or  clairfication.

We've just released Maple Flow 2022.1. We've squeezed in a few new features as requested by our users - I'll describe them below.

Before we get to that, I'd like to give everyone an open invitation to grab a Maple Flow trial - I'd love to know what you think. I'm fanatically devoted to making Flow better, but I can only do that if you give me your feedback.

You can specify if you want your results to be globally displayed using engineering, scientific, or fixed notation

Supporting images can be cut and pasted from another source directly into Maple Flow using standard clipboard operations.

You can now insert a time stamp in headers and footers. And you can optionally place a border around the header, footer or body of the page.

New content in the help system makes it easier to get started with advanced features, including techniques for optimization and signal processing.

Go here to learn more...and don't forget to grab a trial.

I installed just today the 15-day trial version of Maple Flow.

I could get simple 2D plots of functions but did not succeeded in using fieldplot.

Does fieldplot() work in Maple Flow?

Question 1: Given: c^3 = 1000
How can I have MapleFlow 2022 solve for c?

I can do this manually, of course... by entering...
c=1000^1/3 =
But I haven't been able to figgure out how to have MapleFlow solve for "c" automatically.

Question 2: How to find the log to the base 10?
As it  seems the default is base e.

Question 3: What is antilog function for a given base?

Thanks for any help.

I have two plots that I want to overlay.  I can do that, but I want the units to be in english units ("lbf" instead of "N" for force).  Individually each plot will switch the units, but the "display" command throws an error!  Help, please.

I'm new to Maple Flow.  As an exercise I'm replicating a calculation I did in Mathcad, building a blade element model of a hovering helicopter.  The physics is well documented, but any specific design changes the results.

The lift and drag values of the airfoil of choice and the blade physical geometry are used to solve for the forces generated at any radial segment, these are integrated along the blade radius to compute the rotor thrust and torque.  These integrals are taking an inordinate amount of time--one blade angle setting took fifteen minutes to compute rotor thrust and torque.  Since the next step is to compute these values over a range of blade angles this poses a significant problem.

I'd post the file if I could figure out how!!
