Question: Automatic table creation with contents

I have been looking in Maple User Manual on how to create tables. It does describe how to do it manually going from cell to cell. What I am looking for is however a way to do it more automatically, like for example in Microsoft Excel, where you only need to write the formula in one cell and then copy down the formula to the rest of the cells in the actual column by dragging. I know Maple doesn't work the same way, I just want the proces automated ...

Let's say I have measured the diameter of a number of wires in Physics and want to display a table containing two columns, one containing the diamaters and the other one displaying the corresponding cross section areas. The content of the first column of course need to be written manually, but the last one should be calculated using the formula A = 1/4*Pi*d. Then how do I accomplish this task? Because of my students I hope there is a solution using command lines rather than pogramming it.

I hope somebody can help me. I am little lost on this issue.
