I was following the examples in the programming guide and every time I started to enter what was in an example I would have to press F5 to switch to text mode, it is annoying. I figured out what to do.

1. On the menu bar click Tools
2. Then Options
3. In the Options dialog box click the second tab, Display
4. Change the first option, Input display, to Maple Notation
5. Click Apply to Session.
