RootOfQuestion.mw

Hi Everyone, so i understand (to the best of my knowledge) the purpose of RootOf and I have worked with them before but now for some reason when i try to use allvalues to express the solution explicitly it does not express it, instead just keeps as RootOf expression.

I have attached the maple file I am working with.

I have also tried solve(expr, explicit) as well as convert(expr, radical) and still nothing.

Am I missing something small?

Hi Everyone, So i have a pretty ugly function which i am interesting in plotting. When i plot it seems that all values are real however when i do evalf with specific values of variable i am plotting over it shows that it is complex. Any thoughts on how to get it to stop plotting once it becomes complex? See attached maple file.

ComplexPlotQuestion.mw

Thanks.

I am interested in trying to find the Kretschmann Scalar of certain metric, where the line element in given bellow as well as conditions on the indices.

I am wondering if there is any possible way to compute the Riemann tensor components just using indices with the physics package or the tensor package. I have used them both before but for metrics which are explicitly defined.

Thank you.

textplot.mw

I am trying to do Textplot along with numerical ode solution plots in display command but it doesnt seem to want to work, i have included my code and it can be seen that textplot works for by itself but when i want to include it into display nothing happens, any thoughts?

Help would be appreciated.

I am looking to solve the following ode numerically for different values of w,

diff(y(x),x)^2=y(x)^(-3w-1), along with the intial condition y(1)=1.

i have tried to solve this for w=-1/3 and w=0 but i am getting the error:

Error, (in DEtools/convertsys) unable to convert to an explicit first-order system

I believe it probably has something to do with the fact that the first derivative is squared but i dont know how to procede with fixing that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
